Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon is still subject regular power outages and rolling blackouts; this is referred to locally as “delestage”. Vianne provided Mr Kume an “anti-delestage” solution with solar electricity. When the grid power goes off, there are 7 “solar lights” that can turn on in all rooms, living room, kitchen, front and back of the house.
The outside lights powered by solar electricity are always on at night for increased security, just in case the grid power goes off. With no extra bill, Mr Kume can do his work from home with internet connectivity, watch TV during power outages, with no noise, smell or fumes from a fuel generator.
